Taxation
(and, the Robin Hood Theory)

Q:
who invented taxes?
why?
who does it benefit?

A:
Well... believe it or not... because of people who want to help the poor?

Hehehe... actually there are many bad reasons for taxes (in fact, most people can not find where taxes are allowed in US law. Where did the IRS come from? Where does it gets it's authority? Why can it enforce with a guilty until proven innocent practice?)

But, when it comes to support of taxes... it is the liberals. They want to take from the rich to benefit the masses.

A lot of "it" people can agree on... safe roads... bridges... even a common defense.

These things likely can't be handled well by private business

But, in general... the free market place makes better business decisions... and does a better job of voting with your dollars... than the government.

Your response:

please let us pray that the poor die
so only the rich are left
oh great lord in heaven and anywhere else
why did you create poor to burden the rich
let them eat dust and depleted uranium and cake
the rich are the ones who deserve this planet
the poor don't make businesses better
all they do is consume
let the poor die
let the rich inherit this wonderful planet
and reap all the benefits of what is going on here now
what a wonderful place this planet of the rich
riches for the rich
then there will be nothing to defend or fight about
god why are there poor when it's the rich who deserve everything
didn't the rich come first
ejacultis primus
let's eliminate taxes for the rich
and only tax the poor
and if they cant pay
put em in prison
make em work for the taxes they cant pay
kill them
eat them and their babies
on with the march of the rich
forever

I try to clarify:

Hmmm... let me see... I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing?

I. Against: Being Prejudice

I am not for (or against) any class, race or religion (that I can think of.)

At least my attempt is not to be prejudice about groups... not to generalize that some classification is morally good or bad (as it is individual humans that make moral choices.)

However, I do admit that fame and/or fortune make life harder. From a moral standpoint, I think that takes care of itself in the here and now (as well as... perhaps in the next life, too?)

What I am suggesting... is that some people who are rich... and some people who are poor... do good things... and some do bad things.

Just as we don't want to make a villain out of the oil companies, the government, or groups we view as terrorists... nor do we want to villainize a class of people.

In the email of yesterday, an important reason for this was pointed out:

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
-- The 14 Defining Characteristics Of Fascism

II. For: Free Market Economy

The US economy... from what I can see... has physically benefited more people than any other system in history. (Education, technological advances, pharmaceuticals, medical improvements, longer life spans, etc.)

Instead of saying it is our enemy, I think we should shout out about how great it is... and help others copy the system... while we get their feedback... and constantly try to improve the better system into the best.

(now if we could just keep the gov't to keep it's nose out)
