Chiquita Declares Force Majeur on Honduras Bananas

CINCINNATI, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Banana giant Chiquita Brands International Inc. (NYSE:CQB) said Monday it has declared a force majeur in accordance with Honduran law, indicating that it has suspended all work due to conditions beyond its control.

The company is continued to provide wages and benefits to its 7,700 employees in the region, said Michael Sims, vice president of investor relations.
