I have uncovered many outstanding unsigned bands since I began my writing
career. Every issue, I bring you up to date on the bands who I consider
to be among the BEST 5 TO 10 PERCENT of the current unsigned crop --
bands who, in my opinion, are at the top of their genres. So here's an

The Best Unsigned Bands!
Calabash (Cleveland, OH) just signed a one-year contract with Miller
Genuine Draft, who will provide financial support, jackets, posters,
advertising, etc. for the straight-up hard rock band.
Jayne Sachs (Dayton, OH) will take her energetic, rough-edged college
rock the Mississippi River Music Festival in St. Louis this month. She
also won a WOXY-sponsored best band competition for the tri-state (Ohio,
Indiana, and Kentucky) area, in addition to cracking that station's top 20.
