North Penn Hospital

Rainbow Shines, the area's first hospital-based day care program for sick children, has spent the past 10 years caring for hundreds of children with runny noses, warm foreheads and the occasional dose of chicken pox.

Here they receive the very best care from nursing professionals in warm, just-for-kids environment that's specially designed for optimum infection control. Likewise, hundreds of satisfied parents enjoy peace of mind and a full, productive day at work whenever their children get sick.

Rainbow Shines accepts children between six weeks and adolescence. To pre-register, complete a registration packet. You may receive one by calling North Penn Hospital HealthMatch at 215-361-4848, or by filling out our information form.

Your child's day:

  • Children are separated by the nature of their illness and by age
  • There are toys, games, television, video games and movies at your child's disposal
  • Children receive balanced breakfasts, lunches, snacks and formula

    How does the program work?
When your child is ill, call us at 215-361-4735 weekdays between 6:30 AM and 6 PM to schedule a visit. One of our nurses will advise you of what to bring. On occasion, we may limit admission to the program when a child's illness is too severe.
