Since the problem is a national crisis, it is necessary create a non-partisan co-ordinating body which will be instrumental in the successful readying of the SA economy for the century date change}

_Mission:

_{To act as the common forum for all sectors of the SA economy, including government, Parastatals, private sector, non-profit organisations, etc. by sharing information on the state of compliance, methods for obtaining compliance and provide input to legislative bodies on the correct course of action.}

• _{Actively seek the recognition and endorsement of all affected bodies and parties in SA so that the quest for compliance may become a national priority}
• _{To disseminate information about the problem}
• _{To harness the collective IT skills in the country}
• _{To collect data about the state of compliance in different industries and the country as a whole}
• _{To keep a watch on the costs and risks to the economy}
• _{To inform government and other decision-making bodies}
• _{To maintain a list of Y2000 service providers}
• _{To establish certain common instruments, for example, a "Statement of Compliance"}
• _{To operate on a non-profit basis}
