lyrics

I got up from sitting down
Decided it was time I looked 'round
I'd watched the news and got the blues
When it comes to acceptance... I refuse
So, I wanted to see with my own 2 eyes

Went to the closest town
No surprise
A pile of asbestos stretching toward the sky
Went to the closest stream
Wait! Don't drink it... not even in a dream
It ain't clean
All the people up stream from the closest town
Having been flushing their poop and letting it float down
And, you'd better not go to look at the brook
Because mosquitoes are carrying the West Nile virus
Which is very hazardous
So, you'd think we'd waste no time with the hazards?
No. Just the opposite is the case
We make haste to make more hazardous waste
As the generation before left under the asbestos pile
Now, to encapsulate it will cause the poisons to leach even faster
Do you know what I mean? The hazardous waste is very close to the stream
They want to put a concrete enclosure over the asbestos
But, they can't put it under
Thus, the other chemicals will be disturbed and able to seep out from under
Doesn't this make anybody wonder?
No.
As long as it's going further...
Further downstream
Not in my backyard
Soooo... here's the riddle --
I'll have to keep working really hard
Making sure no foreigners move in up the crick
Or, I'll be up shit crick without a paddle?
