Boyz' Day

Friends From World War II

About This Song

This song is dedicated to Phyllis. She was the one who brought The Discussion to the table -- why do you want to keep the myth of male superiority alive?

For quite some time, we debated the facts of women's equality... and, what that means. And, it seems that we came to some sort-of agreement. Women should have equal opportunities to pursue their desires... and, should share the same civil liberties as men.

What Do You Sow?

During these discussions, the superiority of men's physical strength kept coming to my mind. Women are not equal to men genetically.

Hmmmm... and, what are the affects of the environment? Because men are not equal to women physically, what has that done to shape our society?

As I think back over the history of my family, relatives have fought in every single American war... most were either maimed or killed.

Though I thank them for ensuring my freedom, I wonder about the psychological and sociological ramifications of giving them medals. Doesn't rewarding and honoring them for killing and maiming seem a bit hypocritical?

That is what this song is about:

How will we treat the veterans of World War III. When the men come back from annihilating the masses, will we through them a big parade?

The song was written live in a stream of conciseness and simultaneously recorded onto a one-track digital recording device. You might call it a flashback to returning war heroes... and, a glimpse of the future.

Havin' A Blast Boyz' Day, Ole' Mother Hubbard,
It's Boyz' Day.

Boyz' Day,
won't you go to your cupboard,
It's Boyz' Day.

It's Boyz' Day...
go to your cupboard! (said as an order)
It's Boyz' Day.

Old Mother Hubbard,
won't you give this dog a bone?

Old Mother Hubbard... cuz, (under your breath)
this old dog won't leave you alone.

Cuz, it's Boyz' Day... it's Boyz' Day.

Grandfather and
his World War II tank

Boyz' Day!
Ole' Mother Hubbard,
it's Boyz' Day.

Boyz' Day!
Ole' Mother Hubbard,
it's Boyz' Day.

Ole' Mother Hubbard,
won't you go to your cupboard,
and, give this dog a bone.

This old dog ain't never gonna,
never, never ever... ain't never,
gonna leave you alone.

... Cuz it's,
Boyz' Day... Boyz' Day... hmmm... Boyz' Day.

It's Boyz' Day.

Boyz' Day, go to your cupboard!
It's Boyz' Day, won't go to your cupboard!
It's Boyz' Day, Old Mrs. Hubbard,
won't you give this dog a bone?

Boyz' Day!
Ole' Mother Hubbard,
it's Boyz' Day.
Go to your cupboard!
Ohhh... Boyz' Day... never gonna leave you alone.

Now, give this dog a bone.

Boyz' Day!
Ole' Mother Hubbard.
Give this dog a bone!
Won't you give this dog a bone?

annihilating the masses

And, the day's grow shorter,
as we head toward winter.
It seems mankind,
is starting to splinter.

It might just be,
a little to much a mess...
to put it back together again.

All the King's horses and all the King's men,
could never put it back together again.

Boyz' Day!

And, all the King's horses and all the King's men,
could never put mankind...
back together again.

Boyz' Day...

when it's Boyz' Day.
