Biography Of Ed Simmons

Born in 1952 and grew up in Southeastern Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia. Following in his grandfathers footsteps, Ed left home at 15 and hitchhiked out to the west coast. This was the summer of love (1968) a time of great change in this country. Ed had the need to be part of this change. After a decade of sowing oats, he,was married in 1978 and joined Carpenters Local #25 in Los Angeles, Ca. In 1979, his daughter, Jacqueline, was born on Fathers Day. Always with an interest in photography, it wasn’t until 1990 (participating in the final “Owens Valley photography workshop) did Ed begin to seriously pursue his fine art. Exhibiting his work on both the east and west coast, as well as two exhibits in Moscow in 1993, Ed went to work for the late Mathew Ryan, Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. The commission was photographing the state capitol in Harrisburg. To this day, his work appears prominently in the capitol publications. With a strong desire to pursue his own vision, a decision to bang nails as funding for his photographic endeavors seemed appropriate. At this time, his work is of the Oregon coast and the construction occurring at Hollywood and Vine, a very iconic corner in Hollywood, California.
