ISP's: A Program That Won't Go Away
By Phil Lee '99

Ambitious students, wanting to diversify their courses with areas of study GA does not offer, have always had the option of starting an ISP. An ISP can earn credit if it meets two times a rotation and if the heads of school consider it valid. Mr. Peterson offers ISP's on German and poetry, and Mr. Horner is thinking of starting a musical ISP if enough students are interested. Teachers aren't the only ones pursuing different areas of study. Students have taken their own initiative and started ISP's of their own. Kris Racette is working on getting final approval from the heads of school for his Political Philosophies ISP.

The procedure on creating an ISP has changed. ISP's will no longer be included on college transcripts, and a formal write-up has to be presented to the head of upper school for final approval. The policy was changed because the school wasn't confident enough in the quality of ISP's to warrant their inclusion in college transcripts.
